Sumadhura Disaster and Pandemic Relief Support
Background
At Sumadhura, compassion and responsibility go beyond business — they extend to standing beside communities and governments in times of crisis. Whether it was the devastating floods in Karnataka or the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sumadhura Foundation stepped forward with empathy and swift action to support people in distress.
During the Karnataka floods of 2018, when torrential rains caused widespread damage and loss of livelihoods, Sumadhura recognised the urgency of the situation and contributed ₹10 lakhs to the Karnataka Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. This timely contribution reflected the organisation’s commitment to rebuilding communities and supporting state-led recovery efforts.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, when India faced one of its toughest humanitarian crises, Sumadhura once again rose to the occasion. Under the leadership of Vice Chairman Mr. K.V. Ramarao, a donation of ₹25 lakhs was handed over to Hon’ble Minister Shri K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) towards the Telangana Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, aiding the state’s efforts to combat the pandemic and provide essential healthcare services.
Recognising that financial aid alone wasn’t enough, Sumadhura Foundation also extended its support to communities directly by donating grocery kits and essential supplies to BBMP (Bangalore) for distribution among below-poverty-line families, as well as to government schools and labour colonies, ensuring no family went hungry during those testing times.
