A “Blessing” That Unlocks Potential
As shared by Headmistress Mrs. Savitha, what once seemed like persistent challenges—poor health, absenteeism, and low engagement—have now been overcome. The Sumadhura Poshan Abhiyan – Breakfast program has acted as the “key” to unlocking children’s potential.
More than just a meal, it is a transformative initiative that builds healthier bodies, sharper minds, and stronger communities—ensuring every child starts their day with dignity, energy, and hope.
Mrs. Kalpana Siddagoni
Kalpana, a local tailor with determination and untapped potential. She began her journey by upgrading her skills—from working on basic pedal machines to mastering advanced industrial-grade Juki machines. With continuous support and training, she soon transformed into a confident instructor, playing a key role in training 40 women from the village.
What started as a small step forward soon evolved into a leadership journey. Kalpana went on to form a 10-member women’s production group, beginning with stitching school uniforms and fulfilling small village orders. Over time, their work expanded into bulk and institutional orders, marking their entry into organized production.
Today, Kalpana leads the group with confidence—coordinating bulk orders, managing client communication, and even leveraging digital platforms like Instagram to attract new customers and grow their business.
Mrs. Arala Prashanthi
Mrs. Prashanthi’s journey with the Sumadhura Foundation reflects the true essence of grassroots transformation—where empowerment begins with opportunity and grows into meaningful community impact.
Starting her career as a Village Coordinator with Hand in Hand India, Prashanthi worked closely with rural women, encouraging them to participate in skill development and self-help initiatives. Through her consistent efforts, many women gained confidence, learned new skills such as tailoring, muggum work, and basic computer knowledge, and actively engaged in Self-Help Group (SHG) activities. Her role played a crucial part in strengthening community participation and promoting financial and social independence among women.
Today, as a Volunteer Teacher and Coordinator at Iskilla School, Prashanthi continues to create impact in a new dimension—education. She supports students academically while also introducing them to essential digital skills, helping bridge the gap between rural education and modern learning. Her involvement in organizing school activities, preparing reports, and coordinating with stakeholders ensures the smooth functioning of the school’s academic environment.
Srinivas Kotha- MPUPS
Mandal Parishath Upper Primary School (MPUP), Iskilla, once stood as an aging institution struggling with inadequate infrastructure and limited facilities. The old building was no longer suitable for the growing number of students or for delivering a quality learning experience.
In the academic year 2022–23, a turning point came through the intervention of the Sumadhura Foundation. With a vision to strengthen rural education, the Foundation undertook the complete reconstruction and renovation of the school—laying the foundation for a modern, student-friendly learning environment.
Today, the school stands as a model institution equipped with seven spacious classrooms, dedicated Anganwadi rooms, a fully functional computer lab with 18 systems, and well-equipped Science and Social Studies laboratories. The campus also includes a well-furnished Headmaster’s office, staff room, separate sanitation facilities, a children’s play area, and a hygienic kitchen for the midday meal program.
Beyond infrastructure, the initiative focused on holistic development. Digital learning has been enabled through internet connectivity, while four volunteer teachers support academic improvement and conduct evening study sessions for students from Iskilla and nearby villages.
Vijay Kumar B L- GLPS
At Government Lower Primary School (GLPS), Bhoganahalli, a remarkable transformation is reshaping the future of young learners. What was once an old, dilapidated school with limited facilities has now evolved into a vibrant, well-equipped learning environment comparable to that of reputed private institutions.
This transformation has been made possible through the dedicated CSR efforts of the Sumadhura Foundation. With improved infrastructure and learning facilities, the school has seen a significant increase in student enrollment, now at 225. Attendance levels have improved, teachers are more motivated, and students are engaging in learning with renewed enthusiasm.
A key milestone in this journey is the transition of the school into an English-medium institution from the upcoming academic year, as per the Government circular. This change is expected to further increase enrollment and open new learning opportunities for children in the community.
