Survey & Planning 2021
Background
The Gunda Sathaiha Memorial Upper Primary School in Iskilla, Ramannapet Mandal, Telangana, stood as a humble government school with classes from 1st to 7th, along with a small Anganwadi center within the same premises. Over the years, the school had deteriorated into a neglected state, struggling with inadequate classrooms, poor sanitation, leaking roofs, and no proper staff rooms or learning facilities. Despite the challenges, around 80 children continued their education here, driven by the hope of a better future — a hope limited only by the school’s crumbling infrastructure.
This place, however, held a deep personal connection for Mr. Madhusudhan G., Chairman and Managing Director of the Sumadhura Group, as it was his native village and a reminder of his humble beginnings. He often believed that true success is not measured by what we build for ourselves, but by what we build for others — especially for our roots that nurtured us.With that belief and a heartfelt sense of gratitude, Mr. Madhusudhan envisioned rebuilding the school as a symbol of hope and opportunity — ensuring that no child in his native village would ever be deprived of quality education or a safe learning environment. His dream was to transform this simple village school into a world-class institution, on par with the best private schools, where children could learn with pride, dignity, and joy.
What began as an emotional mission soon became one of Sumadhura Foundation’s most ambitious educational CSR projects — a testament to the company’s unwavering commitment to education, community upliftment, and giving back to the society that shaped its journey.
