Access to quality maternal and child healthcare is one of the most vital needs of any community. The Varthoor Maternity Hospital, a key public healthcare center serving women and children from Varthoor and neighboring areas, had long been the only major medical facility for thousands of families. However, years of neglect left the premises in poor condition, with broken pathways, unfinished plumbing, and barren surroundings that did not reflect the dignity of the service it provided.

The local community, recognizing the hospital’s importance, came together to renovate it through crowdfunding efforts. While part of the work was completed, the project came to a halt due to lack of funds—just as the hospital was preparing to reopen to serve expecting mothers and children in need.

Moved by the urgency of the situation and understanding the community’s trust, Sumadhura Foundation stepped forward to complete the pending works in record time. The Foundation’s intervention ensured that this essential healthcare facility could reopen its doors without further delay, restoring hope and dignity to the people of Varthoor.

The hospital was inaugurated in July 2023 by Mrs. Manjula Limbavali, MLA, Mahadevapura, in the presence of Sumadhura Foundation team members, marking a proud moment of collaboration between the community and corporate social responsibility efforts.

Sumadhura Foundation took up the beautification and functional restoration of the Varthoor Maternity Hospital with a mission to make it not just operational, but welcoming and serene for patients and healthcare staff alike.
